Cal got them back to Archie’s place a little after six. When planning for today, they hadn’t discussed whether they’d spend the evening together as well. Archie was hoping they would and was all set to suggest it, but as he climbed off the back of the bike Cal yawned. “Sorry. It’s been a long day.”

“I was going to invite you in,” Archie said. “But if you’re knackered I guess you might prefer to get home?”

Cal smiled. “Nah. I can come up for a bit.”

Archie smiled, glad Cal wanted more time together. “Great. We can have dinner here. I don’t have much in, but we could get some food delivered.”

Once they were up in Archie’s flat they took off their leathers—Cal was wearing long johns under his, which Archie found oddly appealing—and Archie went to see what drinks he had to offer. Not much, it turned out. “I don’t have any beer or cider, sorry.” He made a mental note to get some cider for Cal so he’d have some next time he came over. “I have wine though?”

“No, just water’s fine as I’m driving again later.” Cal had made himself comfortable on Archie’s sofa, leaning back with his arms stretched wide.

When Archie returned with water for both of them, he put the glasses on the coffee table and sat beside Cal. Cal let his arm drop onto Archie’s shoulders and leant over to kiss his cheek. “You okay?”

“Yes.” Archie was nervous now they were finally somewhere private. Keen to initiate something, he wasn’t sure how to begin. He put a tentative hand on Cal’s thigh and rubbed, feeling the firm muscle through the soft fabric of Cal’s long johns.
